Lecertua torna a Saintéloc Racing per il Nürburgring
Dopo una breve fase di incertezza estiva, Lorens Lecertua sarà in pista al Nürburgring con Saintéloc Racing per il quarto round del GT World Challenge Endurance Cup. Il 19enne belga, inizialmente iscritto per l’intera stagione con il team CSA Racing, si presenta al via nell’Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II insieme all’argentino Ezequiel Perez‑Companc e al francese Étienne Chéli, con l’obiettivo di lottare per il podio nella Silver Cup.
Un’estate di cambiamenti
A seguito della 24 Ore di Spa le parti hanno deciso di interrompere il rapporto: “Lorens Lecertua and his team have had a summer full of uncertainty. In the wake of the Spa 24 Hours, the young Belgian and the CSA Racing team mutually agreed to end their partnership.” Il pilota, che ha disputato solo tre gare nel campionato finora, non aveva certezze sul prosieguo della stagione.
Il ritorno alla squadra del 2025
Lecertua spiega la genesi del rientro: “I was delighted to be accepted into McLaren’s GT3 Junior Driver programme and would have liked to continue with the team, but I could not find an opportunity,” and “However, I was contacted by Sébastien Chetail, the team principal of Saintéloc Racing. In 2025, we had a brilliant season together. We made it onto the podium several times in the Silver Cup class, notably at the Spa 24 Hours, and we even secured a podium finish in the overall standings during a Sprint Cup race at Zandvoort. Sébastien’s enthusiasm for having me back with them won me over, and I am absolutely thrilled at the prospect of once again representing this team, which is both professional and family-oriented.”
La vettura e gli obiettivi
Rientrando in Saintéloc Racing, Lecertua ritrova l’Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II con cui aveva mostrato buone prestazioni la scorsa stagione: “I had a brilliant time driving this car in 2025 and I think I will quickly get back into my stride,” he smiles. “Year after year, this Audi proves that it is still a top performer. For this three-hour race at the Nürburgring, I will be teaming up with the Argentine Ezequiel Perez-Companc and the Frenchman Étienne Chéli. With this line‑up, Sébastien Chetail is convinced that we can fight for a podium finish in the Silver Cup, the category for young professionals and semi-professionals. Honestly, that would be the best present I could give him to thank him for his trust.”
Programma del weekend e prospettive
La tappa del Nürburgring è calendarizzata dal 28–30 agosto 2026 e costituisce la quarta delle cinque prove del GT World Challenge Endurance Cup. Riguardo al prosieguo della stagione, Lecertua è cauto: “Nothing has been confirmed yet,” the driver explains. “For now, I want to focus entirely on this race at the Nürburgring. We will consider what comes next later!”
