MotoGP e Algarve International Circuit rinnovano l’accordo
Il 24 settembre 2026 MotoGP ha annunciato l’estensione dell’accordo con l’Algarve International Circuit (AIA): il Gran Premio del Portogallo si disputerà a Portimão fino al 2029. L’intesa garantisce la presenza della classe regina in Portogallo per altre tre stagioni.
Breve cronologia
Il circuito di Portimão è tornato in calendario nel 2020, segnando il ritorno del MotoGP in Portogallo dopo l’ultima presenza del 2012. Dopo il ritorno del 2021, l’evento ha consolidato la sua collocazione nel campionato a partire dal 2023, con pubblico e visibilità internazionale in crescita. Il comunicato evidenzia che il Gran Premio del 2025 ha registrato oltre 166.000 spettatori nel corso del weekend, un record per MotoGP all’AIA.

Carlos Ezpeleta, Deputy CEO of MotoGP, ha aggiunto: “The return of the Portuguese Grand Prix at the Algarve International Circuit brought a new dimension to the championship from the moment it joined the calendar. Its demanding layout has produced some unforgettable racing and quickly made it a favourite among riders and fans alike. We are excited to continue building on that momentum, growing the event into an even bigger celebration of MotoGP and delivering unforgettable experiences for fans across Portugal.”
Le istituzioni locali hanno espresso apprezzamento sull’impatto economico e promozionale dell’evento: “The fact that MotoGP will remain in Portugal until 2029 is more than just the continuation of a major international competition: it is a sign of confidence in the country’s future and in the ability of the Portuguese tourism sector to generate value, promote regions and assert Portugal’s place in the world”, ha dichiarato Pedro Machado, State Secretary for Tourism. Carlos Abade, President of Turismo de Portugal, ha commentato: “MotoGP is an important platform for promoting Portugal abroad and has helped to raise the country’s profile as a destination amongst millions of fans around the world. This commitment reinforces Portugal’s capacity and interest in hosting events of global significance.”
Infine André Gomes, Presidente di Algarve Tourism, ha sottolineato il valore dell’evento per la regione: “Securing the MotoGP in the Algarve until 2029 is excellent news for the region. It is an event with enormous international visibility, which attracts thousands of visitors, generates business and boosts the destination’s profile. It also has the advantage of taking place outside the peak season, at a time when we want to continue to grow.”

Nel comunicato si ricorda che il Repsol MotoGP Grand Prix of Portugal si svolgerà tra il 20 e il 22 novembre (anno del comunicato: 2026) e vedrà al via nomi come il leader del campionato Jorge Martín (Aprilia Racing), il sette volte Campione Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) e il vincitore del GP del Portogallo 2025 Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing).
